I have been educating myself on real estate investing recently, reading books, listening to podcasts.. and I’m overwhelmed. So much information I’ve consumed over the past few months.. ! many people tell me to find other investors who have been doing this for a while to get some advice and help from. I go to meetups here in Houston to meet and network with people. But I also know that not many are willing to spend their valuable time with a very green investor which I completely understand.. I work full time in the healthcare industry which limits my free time to after work and weekends.  I know that you should offer value to an investor so you can gain knowledge from them and actually build a relationship with them and honestly, I would be happy just shadowing someone for free but im having difficult finding people who are willing. How do you guys do it? How do i find and build these relationships other than Just going up to an investor and asking them “ can i please follow you around..??”

@William E. this house does have wood rot in one of the floors in a bedroom.. plus yes, the neighborhood is why I am so hesitant, yes there is revitalization happening but it's not quite there yet, and as a female I worry about this. I work in the medical center and this is so close to it so I know eventually this area will pick up but it will take many years. thanks for the advice! I was thinking of going the FHA 203 route to help with the rehab, but again my safety concern comes up if i have to live there.

@Faraad Mohamed thank you! I will definitely email when or if a need a contractor.

Hi everyone, my name is Menal and I live in Houston,TX.  I am very interested and motivated to become an investor. I work full time as well. After finding bigger pockets, I am even more determined to get this goal started. I have been to a few meetups in Houston regarding real estate- real estate acquisitions and the large networking event that takes place at the RedNeck Country Club. I have been to a few seminars as well but I realized ( by researching the forums here) that they ask for a lot of money to offer “ help”.

I’m a hard worker and no stranger to educating myself which is what I’m currently doing by reading books and listening to podcasts. I’m just wondering if there are any investors in Houston out there who would be willing to offer advice and support? Or where can I go to find one? No one in my social network is an investor and Im wondering if I should get started just by myself? Which I don’t mind doing at all.. but figured I’d ask about help available.
