Hi Robert, thank you so much for your response.  Santa Fe definitely did feel like two different markets.  I lived by Canyon Road and the Plaza, which was beautiful (and not cheap) and initially, that was the only place I wanted to live, but now I don't think I would have an issue living further south.  Your perspective on the ABQ market was helpful.  Since I'm in the beginning stages of looking for investment properties, I was just wondering why I never hear anything about ABQ, and I'm guessing, as you said that it's just not considered a hot market as far as potential returns go.  For a sheer investment property, I'm sure it would be wiser to look elsewhere but because I'd like to live there at some point, or at least have property there, I will continue to keep my eyes open.  I will look into the Rio Rancho area as well. Do you live in New Mexico?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with real estate investing in Santa Fe and/or Albuquerque.  I'm primarily interested in multi-family homes but am looking to learn more about the market as a whole.  Thanks!
