Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.

I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52761-the-simple-guide-to-getting-started-on-bp

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent. There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.

I have other blogs that may be helpful here on BP in my personal blog that you can check out. Good Luck :)

Thanks for all the resources and useful information Brandon!

@Roemeo Barnette my fiancé and I are trying to do the same thing with our entitlements; a little easier for us as we are not yet married but similar issues. I believe the problem is that they assume since you are married you should have the same primary residence; perhaps going to different banks would alleviate this issue? You are both entitled to your full entitlement amount (somewhere around $400k+ depending on the area) and you can reuse it or have multiple loans at a time up to that value as long as each is your primary residence for a year.

Hello all! I’ve actually been “lurking” on the site for a few months while doing some more research and cementing my goals but figured it was time to make an introduction. My fiancé and I are both active duty soldiers at Fort Bragg, NC. We are closing on our first house now; financing with the VA loan and plan to live in it for a year, turn it into a rental, and repeat the process with another house. However, given that we’re both military and a couple other circumstances, we have a bit more capital than a typical young-20s couple to invest so are also looking to buy a multi family (ideally quad or tri-plex) property that we can do some light rehab on and start cash flowing. Looking forward to connecting with any other real estate investors in our area; just attended our first meet-up last week and had a great time! And if anyone is looking to sell in the Fort Bragg area, please feel free to hit me up :) thanks!
