Hi All!

I have a home (out of state from my home) that would make a good AirB&B/ VRBO property. I am doing my homework on what being a Host Owner means and all the details involved. I would be managing the scheduling calendar and running the operation with the help of local cleaning crews and a caretaker in the area. The income possibilities as a vacation or temporary home are motivating me over setting it up as a long-term rental, but I am eager to hear the experiences of others. Preferences on which platform to use? Advice on following this idea? All feedback on being a host is appreciated!!!

@Spencer Carpenter- Wow! Congrats to you for your honestly and reflection. I learned a lot by reading about your experience. While clearly stressful and often even scary, you persevered and have gained so many valuable pieces of experience with which to build. Keep going!!

Surprising that they want something installed in the home (radon test), but don't want you in the home....

Regardless, perhaps doing the Facetime walkthrough will give you a general idea as to the condition of the home and any dog damage. It would also show good faith on your part as the landlord to find a reasonable accomodation to the inspection during COVID while you research the other legal supports you have. Prior to the walk-through, be sure to set expectations for you having the visual access you need.
