@Antonio Marte, the house is in Park Slope.  I was just reading an article in New York Magazine about East New York.  Might need to revisit after few more years.

@Larry Fried & @James Wise, see this is why I'm here!  I didn't think about that.  I need to learn about my options.  I could pull from the equity in the house right now.  I just don't know if would be enough to start up with in NYC.

Hello BP, my name is Matt.

In the past five years my interest in real estate, especially in the Brooklyn/New York City area, has grown rapidly.

In 2010 my wife and I bought a two family home in Brooklyn and lived in one unit while renting out the other.  Two years later we decided to move to nearby CT and rent out both units.   We make a small profit after all expenses, but I am inspired to do something more.

The house has appreciated in value substantially since we bought, and I often wonder if the equity could be put to better use.

My plan/goal is to take the next few years to gain as much knowledge as I can, sell our home for a profit, and use that cash to start fixing and flipping in the Brooklyn/NYC area.

I'm willing take my time to ensure I know what I'm doing when I am ready to start.

I look forward to learning, contributing, and networking with everyone here at BP.
