@Isaac R. - I think we will be forgoing the prenup lol. Thanks for the advice and good luck with the proposal!

@Eric Proctor - Thanks for the detailed reply. We're in a unique situation with her being the W2 earner and my role being the 'wealth builder', but what I take from your advice is to set expectations upfront, be open in communication, and stay malleable because shifts in the plan are likely.

Hello all!

I finally strapped on my 'big boy boots' and proposed to my girlfriend. Any advice on how we approach discussions regarding combining finances? We already live together and are pretty open about all of our finances, but have not had a formal discussion on the topic.

Links, blogs, podcasts, videos, and/or book suggestions around this would also be greatly appreciated :)

Matt

@Bill Hampton Thanks for the detailed reply! It's incredible how much free content is on the site, though I still prefer to splurge on all their books.

Looks like you're in Atlanta as well. I'm a big fan of the fee-based advisor structure. I spent my first year out of college at one of the big wirehouse brokers and my biggest takeaway was how unnecessarily inflated the cost is to most of the investors (and how much that eats away at their growth potential!).

I'll send you a connection request and maybe our paths will cross in our market.

@Dmitriy Fomichenko and @Wale Lawal - Thanks for the tip on keyword alerts. Looks like those will be useful for setting up location keywords.

Hi all! I'm new to BP though I've been listening to the podcast for a few months.

I'm finding it challenging to maneuver the forum to find posts that are interesting/applicable. I'm active on Reddit and accustomed to their layout -- this one is obviously a little different. Any other folks have trouble at first with this? Any tips to optimize forum use?

Final thought - I'd love to hear insight on the BP Pro or Plus membership and what the most useful perks are.

Thanks in advance!
