We spent the night at my parents, so they kept the kids occupied and let me sleep in. Had a leisurely morning with them, my dad and I headed to Lowes and then swung by and looked at a house for sale a few blocks from some of his rental houses. Nice older home, small, but on a good street across from a park.

I headed home around noon and ran the kids around to various parties and friends houses. So a busy yet fun day.

Chris, sounds good I don't make it down as often as I like. I'm actually going to be down on Sunday. But its for my Grandmother's 90th birthday so I doubt I have much free time.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm sure I'll have questions as I progress in the process.

Chris, Hey I grew up in that area and my brother and grand parents live in Park Hills. Small world eh.

Rick, I like the idea of a multi unit, how's has it been owning it so far?

Hi everyone I'm Matt Inman from St. Louis Mo. I ran across this site a few days ago and have been reading as much as I can. I've recently decided to start looking into real estate after a conversation with a friend of mine about his recent successes in the real estate market. At this point I'm not sure what aspect I'd like to get into. I have considered the rental market and have some experience there, growing up my father always had a few houses he would rent out and to this day still owns 3 or 4 that he uses for fun money. Personally I think its just an excuse for him to stay out of my mothers way for a few hours a day. :) But my Dad would always drag me along as a kid and so I learned quite a bit about home repair and upkeep. So I have a bit going for me there, I'm not afraid to get my hand dirty. But I also know when I'm out of my league with a job, I've put a roof on a house once and I'll never do that again. :)

Well I look forward to speaking with some of you, reading some great posts, and learning as much as I can.

Cheers,

Matt
