 I know there are many factors, currently the house could appraise for 377-407,000, our loan balance is currently 233,000. It s our primary, credit is above 800, in Illinois. I've done an initial call and recieved a 4.5% with cashing out 100,000. I just know if that's a smart move with increasing my monthly P&I and jumping off the 2.25% I currently have.

@doug Spence we are looking to invest in a STR on th gulf or Atlantic side of Florida. We have funds for reserve in case something was to happen, but are looking at options for a down payment. Refi, cash out some 401k, just exploring options to get our first rental.

Wondering what are the current best rates for a VA cash out refinance?

Just starting out, have been listening to countless podcast, reading other posts. I am gathering a lot of information, but trying to figure out which path to start on. My wife and I have thought about buying a vacation home in the gulf or Florida. Just not sure whether a long distance STR would be a good start for our real estate investing. On the other hand we live in Illinois and would we be better off starting out investing in either single family/multi family LTR? Basically trying to sort out some of my thoughts and searching for input from experienced individuals.
