When you house-hacked- did you buy a duplex and house hack it? Or a bigger home?

Hi all 

Does anyone know if househacking is legal in South Africa and if they also have the benefit of a 3.5% down payment on the mortgage?

Does South Africa have a similar set up to a FHA loan to get the benefit of a 3.5% down payment ?
