22 years old... assuming you don't have any capital to start investing with and don't want to wholesale, consider joining the military. Active duty and vets get access to one of the most powerful tools in RE investing, the VA loan. This loan has kickstarted the investing careers of many successful investors.

This isn't an option for a lot of people, but if you're physically able I'd strongly consider

Hey Greg! Thank you for taking the time to write a response. I actually tried to join the military but I was unable due to medical reasons. Would have loved to serve my country & get my first jump start there with the benefits they provide but unfortunately God has something planned for me somewhere else!

I would love to get started in wholesaling and have been doing research on how to get started but I’ve been getting stuck in the “analysis paralysis” so that is why I made this post so I can finally take that first step I’ve been wanting to take. Thank you again!

Hi Matthew! Don't we all want to be rich quick? lol

I would love to connect and chat about out of state investing if that is a strategy you want to learn about. Feel free to reach out.

If only it was that easy! I’m open to learn anything anyone has to offer to teach me, will be reaching out to you.
I appreciate your response Aj, thank you!

Yeah, real estate is the get rich slow business for sure. Welcome aboard Matthew!

As in everything in life as I like to say, “it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Pace yourself accordingly and stay patient. Your time will come!”
Thank you for your response Andrew.

Hey everyone! I’m here to get rich quick… kidding. Just a 22 year old, hungry for more in life and tired of being afraid of getting started. Would love to start networking and build relationships! Also, if anyone has any “years of wisdom” to share with a newbie like me, would love to hear it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I can’t wait to talk to you all.

 Welcome to the community Matthew,

Start going to as many networking events as you can. Find a mentor, reach out and ask anyone who is doing what you want to do, and ask them to meet.   I like to try to set up every month a meeting with someone I think I can learn from or who could be a potential mentor. I always come full of questions and ready to learn. Many are specific to the individual that I am meeting with but there are some questions that I have taken from John Maxwells book "Good Leaders Ask Great Questions."

"You may want to use them too:

  1. What is the greatest lesson you have learned? By asking this question I seek their wisdom.
  2. What are you learning now? This question allows me to benefit from their passion.
  3. How has failure shaped your life? This question gives insight into their attitude.
  4. Who do you know whom I should know? This allows me to engage with their network.
  5. What have you read that I should read? This question directs my personal growth.
  6. What have you done that I should do? This helps me seek new experiences.
  7. How can I add value to you? This shows my gratitude and desire to add value to them."

These can be a great starting point for you

At the top, you can go to the networking tab and see if there are any events near you. You can also find some events on Facebook.

Thank you for sharing this, it really helps a lot!
I actually did look into the events tab and seen only one coming up in October around the Southern California area so I am going to attend that event! Have to start somewhere. Again, thank you so much for the reply Steven!

Welcome to BiggerPockets @Matthew Gonzalez!

You already started doing the work, well done: network network network!

I am happy to share all the learnings, mistakes, errors, tips, tools, tricks, that may help.

Do you have any sense of what real estate you want to get into?

In any case, please do not hesitate to reach out, connect, and DM me.

Yes sir! As much as I don like the saying “your network is your net worth” it’s the truth and always love to have others around me for support and wisdom.

As of right now I'm in the process of getting my real estate license so I can become a "part time agent" but don't want to focus too much on becoming an agent but instead invest in real estate with different strategies such as house hack, BRRRR, wholesale, partnerships, etc.

I don’t want to be a person with a jack of all trades and a master of none so what I WANT to start off with is wholesaling. Just need to put myself out there and make relationships so deals can come quicker instead of doing what I’ve been doing and getting stuck in the “analysis paralysis”.

Apologies for the extensive response and I thank you for your reply!

Quote from @Chris John:

@Matthew Gonzalez My advice to my former self would be to scale more quickly. It's fine to start with SFR, but roll that equity into MFR, and then into apartments. In hindsight, I should probably own 5-10 apartment buildings, but I don't own any. :(

Good luck!

Definitely would love to get into MFR as soon as possible! But SFR would probably be best to start off and learn the ropes. Whatever may come my way I'll be ready for it! Thank you for the reply.
