@Kuba F. thanks for the info! It’s funny you mention the part about analyzing deals. I listened to one of th podcast today regarding this and their suggestion to do it as practice had never dawn on me. It was a slap my forehead moment. So today I did just that looking at some properties on Craigslist and analyzing just for practice.

Nope only thing stopping me now is my search my first deal. Another great piece of advice I learned from the podcast is you have to make your deals it’s not just finding them. I scheduled a meeting with a local whole seller this week and working on networking with as many people I can. For a long time I felt like I needed to learn everything before taking the leap now I see I need to learn enough find a deal and meet enough people that know what I don’t.

Hi Everyone!

Wanted to make a post to  1) introduce myself and 2) make an attempt to hold myself accountable. I have been stuck in the "analysis paralysis" stage a couple times regarding real estate investment and this is the time I break the cycle!

About me: I live and have lived in the DFW metroplex all my life. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 16 years and we have two great children. I enjoy spending time with friends and family just hanging out and socializing. I also enjoy helping coach my sons little league team and am an avid reader.

Career: For the last 15 years I have been in sales for a few different printing/display companies. The part I enjoy most is getting to help clients by using my creativity. Currently my focus is on design and manufacturing retail and event displays.

Why Real Estate?: Both of my parents were real estate agents and one of my first jobs was answering phones on the weekends at their office. Later I spent a couple summers working for a GC that flipped houses. I've always been interested in real estate and thought about becoming an agent several times. I can be found killing time browsing houses on Zillow just for fun.

Short Term Real Estate Goals: I want to get off the fence and get involved in real estate investing. I am most interested in flipping and think some of my skill sets such as managing large projects in my career and a decent knowledge of construction lend itself to this tactic. I am giving myself no more than 6 months to buy my first house.

Long Term Real Estate Goals: Eventually I want the financial security that I feel I can achieve in real estate investing. I am no young pup anymore and want to get a solid exit strategy from working the 9-5.

What I am doing: Reading and listening to real estate investing books (just started The Book On Flipping Houses). I have a friend that is currently in the field and I am bending his ear as much as I think I can get away with. I've joined several local FB groups and hey I'm here!

Thanks everyone!

Matt
