Hello all. We have had a tenant in a beachfront condo since the beginning of January 2022. The lease that was signed was a 6 month lease expiring at the beginning of July 2022. We were notified of building concrete restoration (very common process here in Florida) late January, long after the lease was signed. We received a text from the tenant saying that she would be leaving the unit and going back home to New York from the unbearable noise during the day. She is requesting compensation for the remaining months of the lease (10,600$) because of her troubles. I am reaching out to anyone to see if they have any ideas/thoughts about how we should handle the situation. We feel really bad that it might be loud during the day from the work being done, but quite honestly don’t feel that we are obligated to compensate her at all since we didn’t know about the concrete restoration until after the lease was signed.
