Hey @Nate Sanow,

One of the thing I was curious about is how I could network more effectively. Obviously I have the ability to use the BiggerPockets Forum but I was wondering if there were other techniques that I could possibly use. Thank you for the advice and reply Nate!!

Wow @Nathan Gesner, this is awesome advice!! I can't thank you enough for all of the awesome information. You gave me an amazing baseline and step by step instruction on how to get started. I have skimmed over some of Brandon Turner's videos previously on analyzing properties and I think that would be a great thing to start doing as you have said with the calculator on here. I also love your emphasis on "analysis paralysis" which is a section I have read in Brandon Turner's book. I hope to never fall into this cycle and never make any progress. That's why I am acting now on this site to reach out and become exposed to very successful and knowledgeable people like yourself. Thank you so much for the reply and amazing information. I will definitely be keeping these things in mind and practicing them as time goes on. Take care!!

@Tommy Schluter, Thanks for the great start up advice! I have heard about LLC's and whether or not someone should open one. It sounds like a smart decision to make. I am just wondering on how to tell if an area is a good one to invest in. I am sure there are many variables that go into this process but it's difficult to find that starting point for an area. Thank you for all the advice and take care!!

@Robin Evans

Hey Robin,

Thank you for all the advice! I would love to get involved as much as possible into this field. I have thought about getting some type of job and even working for free to see some of the behind the scenes work of how these companies and investors go about business. Thank you again for all the advice and encouragement!! Take care!!

Quote from @Tyler Fontaine:

Best thing you can do if you can't jump into the game would be the following.

Set a goal as to when you will buy you first property. Should be a multi-family. Pick a date to it by. Pick a geographic area to do it by. Then reach out to a mortgage lender to see what steps you would have to take to get an approval.

The second thing you could do would be to connect with your local Real Estate investors Association. Get into some facebook groups and so forth as well. Start building your network. Tell everyone you meet thats in real estate what your goals are and what you're trying to buy.

 Thank you for the guidance Tyler. I would really like to know how to pick the right geographic area to invest in. Also, I would like to know how to properly analyze a property and deal from top to bottom so I don't make a bad mistake. Thank you again for the info Tyler.

Hey Everyone,

This is my first post on a BiggerPockets forum! I am 19 years old and currently in college studying a 5 year major, I discovered the world of real estate investing about a year ago on YouTube. I then bought Rich Dad Poor Dad. It motivated me even more to invest and become financially free. I bought two books written by Brandon Turner: Rental Property Investing and Investing in Real Estate With Low and No Money Down. I have read Rental Property Investing and the information was incredible. There was almost too much information in there for me to comprehend. I'm writing here today asking you all what a great starting point for me would be. I would love to get involved as soon as possible but I have so much to learn and not a lot of time right now with my school work among other commitments in college. I am hoping to be more involved with this community now and hopefully for years to come. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
