The second one I did a lot of the work myself and spent an extra 2 or 3 months in holding costs because of it.

This was the first one for me. I purchased with 100% personal funds, which tied up nearly all of my cash. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough cash on hand to start the 2nd rehab until this one sold. I quickly switched to using hard and private money lenders in order to keep the investing cycle moving

I continue to get emails from Steve Mayer of Finance holding Company, but he keeps wanting me to pay a deposit + his 2% origination fee upfront...seems like a scam and wanted to see if anyone has done business with them in the past

Thanks Jordyn.  I appreciate your offer and will likely take you up on your offer to help.  Being new to this biz, there is a lot of fear and trepidations associated with the "right" deal and a network of lenders, agents, contractors you can trust.

My strategy at this point is 1, put my money to work for me, move my money into a real estate/ self directed IRA and then work into the fix and flip side of the business. And lastly, still to be decided, but build a portfolio of rentals.

I joined this group with the hopes of starting a Real Estate Investment business soon so that I can step away from the corporate life I have lived for more than 30 years.
