Hey Daniel,

WELCOME (ALMOST) TO LA! I'm a photographer, my husband's a video editor, my best friend lives in Chicago... and we're just getting started in real estate investing as well. Did someone just say new BFFs?! Yeeep. :)

Send me an email when you get to LA and we'll show you around this awesome city!

Congrats!

Hey everyone,

Wanted to make sure that ya'll saw the upcoming Los Angeles meet-up that was just posted: http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521/topics/211.... It's for next Saturday, July 25th. For some reason it didn't pop up on my LA keyword alert. Thankfully @Jon Huber sent me a message about it.

Hope to see you all there!

Hey @Brandon Crumpton,

Check out this thread. There don't seem to be a lot of free groups; however, a couple of them you can attend for free the first time and the rest seem to me in a pay/lecture format. There was a BP-based free one about a month ago. I have my eyes peeled for the next one. :)

Congrats on your first purchase!

Hi Brian,

The Invest Club for Women (men are also welcome) is having an upcoming meeting on foreclosures that might be right up your alley. I've never been to one of their meetings, so I can't vouch for the group, but the guy leading the seminar might be a great person with which to connect.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Heya folks!

My husband and I are new to the real estate investing world (besides buying/selling our own SFR). We're looking to make friends and connect with like-minded investors, financiers, real estate agents, contractors, wholesalers, the whole lot o' ya! We just made the commitment to start this venture about a month ago and since then we've ensconced ourselves in books, podcasts, webinars, and forums. In the coming months we're planning to attend as many of the local meet-ups we can and to start building a reliable team.

Our goal is to start with a fixer 2-4-plex  in about 3 months (in LA, Santa Clarita, San Fernando Valley, Culver City, or Long Beach). The plan is to rehab and move into one of the units while we rent the other(s). From there we're looking to start rehabbing SFRs in the SFV, Santa Clarita, Long Beach, and/or Bakersfield. Baby step goal is 4 a year. While we'll start out with fix-and-flips, eventually we'll sprinkle a few buy-and-holds in there.

If you're in the area and are interested in becoming colleagues, please send me a connect request! Heck, even if you're not in the area, let's connect!

I look forward to meeting some of you guys. Have a great day!

Hey @Danny Cerecedes, I'm glad you posted this because I too am looking to network with fellow BPians. @Jon Huber and @Evelyn Jordan hosted a Los Angeles meetup last month that I was unable to make, but I'm looking forward to future ones. I haven't attended any REI clubs yet, but I'm sure there will be some fun adventures.

So far I've found these coming up:

Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from Club in Action. Real Estate Club In Action Monthly Meeting in Burbank. No guest speaker. (Thanks for the heads up @Ciprian L.)

Looks like there's an annual membership, but you can try the first one or two meetings for free. We'll probably check them out. From the site: "We help connect people. Our meetings are a mastermind format. You don't just park your rear in a seat and listen to someone tell you/sell you the newest latest greatest technique to get "Quick Riches" with no credit or money. We do NOT present "gurus" as speakers. WE present local folks and local deals. We have active flippers who want to mentor beginners."

Thursday, July 16, 2015 from FIBI group. The U.S and Global Economy - the good, the bad and the ugly in Pasadena. Speaker: Christina Suter. $15.

This looks like a pretty decent group. We're planning on attending. From the site: "Join other Pasadena-area real estate investors at our For Investors By Investors meeting (FIBI) held the third Thursday of each month at 7pm at Courtyard by Marriot, 180 North Fair Oaks Ave. Pasadena, CA. The Pasadena FIBI group provides an environment for active and informative peer discussions, expert presentations on relevant topics, and networking. All FIBI meetings support a NO SELLING policy, allowing investors—whether seasoned or beginner—to be free to share about their real estate passions without sales pitches."

@Ken Martinez how many of the FIBI group meetings have you gone to? What's your experience with the meetups?

Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from Invest Club for Women. Buying Properties in a Seller’s Market in Glendale. Speaker: Kurt Demeire. $20 for Pre-Registered; $25 at the Event.

There's an annual membership option, or you can pay per event. Looks interesting. From the site: "investCLUB for Women is the fastest growing, premier women's real estate club in Southern California. Our mission is to create the next generation of financially independent women (and men!) through real estate investing. This club is for you if you are looking for a highly energetic, supportive and inspiring environment where you can get educated, make amazing connections, and find new opportunities for action in real estate. And...best of all, have fun while doing it!"

Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from Best Los Angeles Real Estate Club. Secrets to Becoming Wealthy in Real Estate! in Glendale. Speakers: Bruce Norris & Tony Watson. $20.00 pre-registration; $25.00 at the time of event.

I think monthly meetings are free (typically on the 1st Wednesday of every month), but they will have events like this one on occasion. We're planning on going to this one.  From the website: "We are a network of experienced real estate entrepreneurs and Investors. THIS IS NOT A SEMINAR we have conversations about current market opportunities, education by facilitating discussions about real estate, the economy and industry related strategies and solutions."

***

These are the ones that we were thinking of attending. I'd love feedback from other BP folks about their experiences with meetups and/or other upcoming REI group gatherings.

Also, feel free to connect with me if you're in the LA area and plan on going to any local events. It's always nice to have friends to meet. We may need a BP special handshake...

Have a fantastic day!
