@Kiwi Mills I agree with the password change and something I need to keep in mind. On the more technical side, I didn't get the PPS section. How am I saving rental fee if I use Verizon g3100 router (one I have now) as main router, lock that and have other hardwired wireless router on each floor?

@David Lee Hall, III the smartrack looks a bit pricey for me but it looks like it will fit in my cabinet. Thanks for sharing.

@Kyle J. that's a very neat idea! I've seen those in tank to bowl bolt for toilet parts but did you have any specific product link you can share?

@Leslie McIntosh I am debating if I should care or not. With comp sci background, I tend to care about data privacy and such but then again, thinking practically most guest won't have a malicious intent. But having some sort of protection will help me sleep better. Yes, having an extender, hiring a technician to install the ethernet wire, and moving the router is my last resort here if other options are more expensive.
About mounting it in the ceiling, I just worry for a free fall drop even though it's a unique idea to think about.

@Kyle J. thank you for the links! I actually thought of the donation box but could not find a way to attach them to wall Any easy hack for that? I can hang them to wall but anybody can simply lift the whole box. Any way I can screw and attach the box to the wall would be more reasonable in this case.

@David Lee Hall, III do you mean this website? https://www.rackmountsolutions...

Not a bad idea. But so far I am seeing giant rack. When I called them, they directed me to Grainger.

I need a wifi safe wall mountable lock box. It does not matter if it’s see-through or not. What matters is that it can hold a 10 x 5 x 5 size router, does not block radio waves and does not interfere with the wifi. Now the challenge here is that, aluminum, electrically conductive metal such as copper blocks radio waves. On the other hand, plastic, rubber or wood does not block radio wave.

I am finding it next to impossible to find a safe or lock box that falls under this criteria. I searched online on home depot, walmart, called some branded companies so they can help guide my search. No luck.

The context here is, I have a 3 storied apartment where I am on 3rd floor and have airbnb guests on 2nd floor. To avoid spending money on wifi extender, I installed the home router on 2nd floor on one of the guest room so all floors fall under the wifi range. After talking to verizon, I learned that it’s not secure to have the main router where stranger can access it as s/he can click the reset button and erase all the custom passwords I set up. This raises a red flag, so verizon suggested two options - 1. find out a wifi safe lockable container to lock the main router so guest can’t poke at it, 2. move the main router to my room on 3rd floor which will require running an ethernet cable from 2nd to 3rd floor. If I am doing it myself, I will have to run a 100’ cable from inside, but this will most likely be a technician job who can find a much shorter path through the window from outside. Also, with this 2nd option, I will need an extender for 1st floor.

I wouldn't mind spending money on the 2nd option but the issue here is, I am staying on my property temporally and will be moving sometime early next year. I am aiming to have the entire property for long term rental by that time.

So still go ahead with option 2 even though in future my room will be occupied by tenant anyways? Or should I try to find a lock box? I am gonna lean toward the cheaper option as both sound valid to me. But any suggestion on the lock box will be much appreciated. I got some suggestion from walmart as they suggested to use plastic create with staple for cable. Am I going crazy on this? Has nobody face this situation? What is the practical approach to this situation?

Thanks in advance!

Have anybody used https://www.estatesales.net/ to buy furniture? They have online auction and I am not sure how trustworthy this company is. They have moveout sales, estate sales. You can bid on the furnitures. The prices are not disclosed prior to the sales window. I am not sure how expensive the furnitures get for these sales. Anybody used this before? Any feedback?

Mainly I am looking for cheaper but durable furnitures for my student rental property. Any other sites you can share will greatly help. Thank you

I spoke to property management before but not regarding different payoffs. I assumed it will be more profitable room by room because there is so much demand for that in the area. Thank you for the overall suggestion! I wasn't aware of the titles of different people I need to reach out to!
