Post: Seeking local Lenders

Hi, we are closing soon on our first home.. yay! We have been working with a lender that is a family friend but they are encouraging us to shop around for lenders and search for better rates.

- Any recommendations on local lenders in the greater Austin area?

- Anything we should watch out for when talking with lenders?

Love the community here, been Bigger Pockets fans for a while and thanks so much in advance!

Thank you for your input, Andrew! How long do you suggest personally occupying one side of the duplex? Our plan is to occupy one side for 12-18 months. We plan to renovate Unit A while leasing out the already-renovated Unit B. Then plan to rent out both units upon moving out at market rate.

Hi, my partner and I are moving back to Texas and found (what we think to be) a great duplex investment in Franklin Park. The street is full of run down houses, lots of cars, and the shops around are run down too, that said I personally feel think the area has a lot of room to grow given how close it is to downtown. We haven't been in the market in a while and are stuck on whether to move forward. Do others in Austin feel the same way?

Would you invest in Franklin Park?
