Another dilapidated property that my family owns in Memphis that they have stopped paying on. The back tax is around 5k. The house looks like this

My family said if I pay back tax the house is mine. I would do most of the rehab myself. This would be the first house I would try and flip or rent out. Input? Advice? Help!?

Thanks @Rick H.I'll get right on it. The reason I waited is because I had to actually prove that the property would be better in my hands. I'm the baby in the family so it was handled kind of unorthodox, but I'm trying to handle it correctly now. Thanks for the help!

My Grandfather passed and left property to his 5 children, my uncles and aunt. Two of the properties have been abandoned for years. One of these properties I decided to fix up so that I can acquire ownership for my efforts. The family agreed and I am now almost finished rehabbing the house. Before I finish the process and allow everyone to see the house, my contractor suggested I get it in my name to avoid any conflicts once they see how nice it looks. What is the best way to do the transfer in terms of taxes and legal issues?

Just an example of how much work has been done:

Hello! My name is Maarifa Arnett. I am a novice in the real estate world but I have been studying the subject more and I thought it was time to take a step further and join the BP community!

I run a moving service in Memphis, TN. I am 23 and recently had twin daughters!! I am in the process of fixing an old family property for my newly formed family to live in and I'm loving it. I am working hands on with my contractor so I that I can understand what it takes to actually put up a quality house.I have realized that I want to dedicate my twenties to learning and mastering the game of RE! I came to the site a year ago and wasn't prepared to join because of personal uncertainties on top of a lack of finances. Since then I have studied more, and my business has taken off. I am now committed to learning all I can about the business, specifically the buy and hold and flipping techniques and strategies. I am thankful for the information that I have already received and I look forward to learning much more with BP.

Thank You!
