I like the Ocala area though i have been looking more south west as far as Dunnellon, Rainbow Springs and Beverly hills. Though I am only investing in Ocala now i am shopping.  I did allot of driving through Marion Oaks, through the shores to silver springs and up to Ocala center and Ocala NE.  Allot of properties in the 70--120K range those are big areas and it was hard to tell how good the parts of the neighborhoods were so I stopped looking in Oaks or the Shores. For Ocala North East, i didnt go past NE 20th street  to the 34479 area.

Anyone have experience with the Dunnellon, Silver Springs or Beverly Hills areas?

Great info, i didn't even think of an Ocala Face book group. Also, great info on knowing the neighborhoods.

Hi everyone,  I know i am over simplifying (simple is best for me), just wrapping my head around the 50% rule.  For example, if the gross rent is $1000, i would guesstimate $500 in monthly expenses not counting P&I. If the mortgage is $600 it may be over priced, if $400 its a better deal. Also, if the rent is $1000 and the stated expenses are $200 a month, something is missing.

Sound about right?

Hi BP folks,

I have a property in Ocala that needs some maintenance work, a few windows replaced, little electrical clean up, some siding clean up and a few other generally smaller repair items. Does anyone have recommendations for contractors/handyman in the Ocala, FL. area?

Thanks for your help

Loyd

Hi Joe, welcome to the site and Ocala. BP is awesome and the folks are very helpful, there is allot of info here that i am just starting to use. I too will likely be moving down to sunny Ocala in a few years for family reasons and have started looking now. Its like everywhere else, good spots and bad spots. I tend to gravitate to the west, south west but its all pretty. Let me know if there is anything i can help with, I'm just learning about the area but would be happy to share anything i know.

Again, welcome

Loyd

Hi, I have limited experience at owner a duplex rental and am a noob at Bigger Pockets (this is my first post). I am also interested in the Ocala area, specifically the SW. I am most familiar with single/2 family rentals outside of the gated neighborhoods as that what i have experience in. I see allot of folks with helpful info. Is it good protocol to reach out to folks that offer help for other posters or wait till they offer help? I really like what i am seeing on BP.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
