Hi everyone. In the process of buying and house hacking a 3 family home with my brother. The house is OLD, needs some TLC and a good remodel. We have close to 70-80k to fix things up, with a chunk of that going Into the 3rd floor where my brother and his gf are living. It’s the floor that needs the most help. The second floor is rented and I’ll live on the first with my daughter. ( 1st floor needs design adjustments.) So where do I start!? How do I shop for contractors? Is that even what I need? How do I know if Im paying too much? I have no point of reference here.
The idea is to live in this for the next 5 years and then rent out the units we are living in, refinance and repeat.
