Stay away from Rich Dad hype books, but it's worth reading them to understand your competition's mentality.

I'm still learning, but I think my meat and potatoes will be investing in 6 flats. I'm also interested in learning more about purchasing property taxes and quieting title. I like the idea of wholesaling, but it wouldn't be anything I do in the very near future.

For now I'd like to learn as much as I can and get to know my market better. I'd like to start making connections and network as well.

Count me in!!! I was appalled at the latest podcast. Was I the only one who thought Mr. Short, though very knowledgeable, was behind the times on how he fielded the, "How do you get a significant other excited about investing?" question???

My husband will be exposed to professional liability in his career. Investments will be under my purview, not his. Will investing within an LLC protect me from any of his malpractice exposure? We live in Illinois. Also, (and this is the newbie in me) if I create an LLC, can I exclusively pay myself as a stockholder? I'll own 100% of the company.

Hi friends!

I'm a newbie from Chicago looking to start out in real estate investing.

I'm a lawyer by trade, but I think it would be wise to branch out into real estate investing to diversify my retirement portfolio and to have a bit of extra income each month. My initial goal is to purchase multi-family unit buildings. I'm also wondering about the utility in getting my brokers license.

I have a husband who is graduating from medical school soon and we have two young children.

I've read the intro guide and have been listening to podcasts. I've also read a few books on the topic. (Please do suggest more! I love learning!)

Are there any people out there like me with similar goals? If so, please connect with me.
