I am in the same boat, working in a bay area and investing out of state.

In general, for people who are saving money through W2, and going for a cash-flowy buy & hold strategy, turnkeys in the midwest is the way. For specifics, let's connect.

would love to connect. i've been interested in kc for a while

I am also from LI & was looking upstate for investment properties but the issue for me was that there are very few good property managers up there (compared to other areas) so, keep this in mind!   I'm still looking in other cities...

This is exciting! I hope I can make this one, but if not I'll be on the lookout for the next one!

@Laura York

I keep a separate spreadsheet for each property. My properties in NY I deposit in a separate account from my properties in STL. I try to make it easy as possible for my accountant.

 Seeing you're on long island too-- any recc's for a good real estate accountant... mine's OK but.. if I get really going may need an upgrade.  Also, are your LLCs in NYS?  curious as i read somewhere you can also do them in the state the property is in.  If you can't already tell, I'm new here LOL.  in the research phase.  Have you been to any local meet ups?  Sorry to digress on your thread... !

Hello,

I'm looking into purchasing a multi-family home on Long Island.

I would love to hear some opinions on lower income areas in Suffolk as potential locations.

Thanks.

 Hey Matthew,

If you ever consider investing in Kansas City, I'd be happy to connect and provide details on our current market.

Can someone refresh my memory on the tax hike amount (is it a percent?) for OOS investors?

I'm following.  I'm still in the learning / saving/ analysis paralysis phase but Cola has been on my top 3 cities all along.  (Gamecock here)
