To my knowledge, California does not perform annual Tax Lien Sales but instead holds annual Tax Deed Sales. I understand that a Tax Lien Sale does not award ownership because there is no deed transferred unless homeowner does not pay new Tax Lien Holder after a certain amount of time. My question is, in CA, when a Tax Deed Sale is preformed does this mean the Deed is actual transferred to the Tax Deed buyer upon purchase since the 5 year delinquency has already passed for the current owner? Does ownership take place upon purchase?
