Yes, Central is a tough spot currently but I am hoping that with enough investment in its potential we will start to see positive change. 

Hydroponics, are you referring to The FarmTek site in Dyersville? Pretty cool stuff out there.

@Joe Harris: Well, I am entertaining some commercial investment property on Central Ave. The property I just looked at is a split commercial/residential (apartment). Mostly I am looking for something that will be affordable and a good investment as this will be my first investment property.

I am brand new to this site and real estate in general, buying my first house last June! I am now looking to invest in properties that will provide passive/supplemental income. My day job is Horticulturist with our Iowa State University Extension Services. I enjoy gardening, landscaping, and teaching others how to enjoy my favorite things as well!
