Hello guys,
I just recently bought a 40+ year old mobile home, and the carpet in the master bedroom was completely trashed and had stiff paint stains all over, so bad that they went all the way into the fibers and would be impossible to get out. So, I had torn it up, and hired a buddy to put my new carpeting in. He did a very bad job, and left wrinkles everywhere. And, come to find out, decided to use the existing padding, because it was glued down and he didn't have to tools to remove it.
I'm thinking about just removing everything down to the sub floor and buying several boxes of peel and stick vinyl planks,. as the most affordable option. I checked with local contractors, and to fix this messy rug job would put a hole in my wallet costing around $300.
Question is, would this be a good idea? I'm not much of a DIYer, but can do small repairs. How would a vinyl floor hold up? Would I need to level the sub floor first? Thanks in advance!
