@Michael Belmore, thanks for the response!  We are very interested in house hacking.  If I end up getting a new job in the next few months, that is certainly an option we are going to explore.  In fact we are considering it even if we stay local!  Thanks again!

Hi @Robert Burnell!  Thanks for the reply!  We have looked at that, but quite honestly, we are way too new into this to make any decisions.  We want to learn as much as we can and then move forward when we know the time is right.  Honestly with all of the current economic issues with COVID, we are a little nervous.

The other issue is we are not in the best situation with our current home.  We own a single family home as our primary.  We recently refinanced it to pay off all of our credit card debt (might have been a bad move but we did it before we started learning).  We don't have much equity in the house.  We are thinking we would like to keep it and move eventually and rent it out as it is in a prime location locally.  In that case we would hope to be able to house hack for a while.  This is also contingent on me finding a new position in my job which is in the works right now.  If that happens we will be moving and it will set things into motion.  Otherwise we are on a learning mission to figure out what is best for us!

Hi David!  I don't have anything insightful to add, but am excited to join in this journey with you!  We are brand new to the scene and we are learning too!  We have read the same books recently, and we are soaking in as much information as we can!  Are you transitioning to the Guard or anything?  I only ask because it is a nice secondary income without too much involvement (usually).  Good luck!

Thanks @Ann Shanley!  We are really liking BP so far.  We are really focused on learning right now, and looking to learn from people who have done what we hope to do!  As far as what we want to do, we are still feeling that out, but initially we would like to do rentals.

My wife and I are brand new to the REI scene, and we are soaking up as much information as we possibly can. We are in our early and mid 40s and are tired of living in the rat race paycheck to paycheck. I have a steady career in the public sector and make a decent income, and my wife owns an online fitness business after leaving healthcare a couple of years ago. I am also an Army veteran, and still serving in the National Guard.

For years, we have been living on the edge of our means like many people do, and our budget is stretched.  We are tired of this and are ready to make a change.  After getting turned onto Rich Dad Poor Dad, our mindset was turned on it's head.  We both have been learning as much as we can both from listening to as many audible books as possible, and learning from  BP.

We don't really know where to take this journey yet, but we are committed to reaching financial freedom, and hope that REI will help us to get there eventually.

We are excited to be here, and hope to learn from you all, and maybe be able to give back someday!

We are also interested in Dayton.  We live the opposite direction from Dayton than you, but about the same distance.  We are just getting started, but want to get it right the first time!

Guess this post is as good as any to throw my first post on.  While I don't know jack about investing yet since we are just learning and figuring out our path, I have a pretty good handle on websites.  We own a small online fitness business and developed a few websites for it.  We tried Wix at first when we knew nothing, but I would not recommend it unless you really want a basic site with not a lot of functionality.  We transitioned to Wordpress about a year ago and have been running strong there ever since.  I recommend Siteground for hosting.  Our go to theme creator is Divi by Elegant themes.  Do some reading about Wordpress and Divi.  You won't be disappointed.
