My bad! I apologize, I'm pretty new to real estate and know next to nothing about it, I'm just in the process of learning whatever I can. For some crazy reason the home ownership aspect of it slipped my mind when I was thinking about it. However, I did watch a webinar of Cody Sperber known as the "clever investor" speak about wholesaling properties, and he talked about how he bought a home for under market value that a woman lived in. I don't remember if it talked about her owning the home or not, but he bought it under contract and she wanted to sell it right away due to financial difficulties and get an apartment. Homeowners don't pay rent, so I'm not sure how financial difficulties would have played out there. I'm sure she would have tried to sell it for much more than what he bought it for. I just found that curious.

Hi, I'm a super newbie to real estate investing and have a question about a possible method I thought of.

There are real estate investors who do what I believe is referred to as "wholesaling," where they buy houses for cash, correct me if I'm wrong. It's like those "cash for gold" businesses where they buy cash for gold under spot price, except with real estate, it's buying houses for cash under market value.

So my question is, is it possible to set up an arrangement where you find a short-term lease agreement on a vacation home rental, or some other type of home rental (possibly 1-3 months lease), make monthly rent payments on it for the duration of the lease, and after the lease is up, sell it to a "we buy houses" investor? I'm not concerned about selling a house an investor under market value, I'm just curious about whether this is a possible method of real estate investing and how it works.
