I am very Interested in Real estate investing, and already own one rental property. My problem however is that my wife and I are not on the same page when it comes to real estate investing. She thinks that it is a very risky and bad idea to buy real estate. I am sure others have ran into this porblem before and am just curious how you dealt with this issue?

Peter,

I am glad to see that you are local, and so interested in real estate investing. The REIA group in DesMoines is called two rivers REIA, and it meets the first saturday of the month and one wendsday a month. Check out the web site for more details. http://www.tworiversreia.org/Home_Page.html You may be able to find a mentor at one of these meeting. Good luck on your search for a buy and hold property and I hope to see you at a meeting somtime.

fertilegal,
Great to see sombody else in Iowa who is interested in investing. The new housing in the DM are has slowed quite a bit, but is still going on. The Townhomes in Ankeny have grown at a very rapid rate in the last 3-5 years, and are now at the point where nobody can sell them. There are a lot of empty townhomes in the area. Have you done any investing and what kind if any?

My name is Kyer Robinson and I am from the Des Moines Iowa area. I am just getting started in real estate investing, and trying to learn everything I can. I purchased my first rental property about two years ago. I have found this one property to be very educational, and also know now things I should do better next time before buying a property. I have read several diffrent books, forum post, and attended a few REIA meetings. I hope to meet some more people activley investing in my arear through this site. I would also like to grow my real estate buisness through rehabbing and purchasing buy and hold properties. Thanks to everyone for making this site really great.
