Does anybody here have a recommendation for a GC in the Tyler, TX area that specializes in multifamily properties? I have an executed LOI on a 35 unit property and am looking for a GC to help with due diligence once we have the contract completed later this week. My D/FW options have all stated this is too far away for them.

Hello BP community!

I am new to the forums and somewhat new to real estate investing (~2 years).  My experience is buy and hold single family in the DFW area.  After reading several books (The Millionaire Real Estate Investor, Cash Flow Quadrant, Complete Guide to Buying and Selling Apartment Buildings, Rich Dad Poor Dad, etc.) and soaking up all the BP content I possible can, I would like to expand my portfolio into small multi-family (5-20 units). From there, I would like to scale up into larger multi family as my experience grows. My budget for the first deal is up to $1MM. Once I have experience with the small multi family, I'd like to raise capital for the next one (about to start reading Raising Private Capital), using my first deal as a way to show experience.

My question through my introduction is, who are some of the best commercial brokers in the area that I could connect with to find properties within this criteria? I understand relationships in real estate are very important.  Also, what other tips and tricks would you guys suggest as I embark on this journey?

As another side note, I have a very stable, non real estate related job, but am looking for opportunities to take a more active role in the real estate industry. If anyone has any suggestions or opportunities for any of these questions, I would be grateful to hear from you!  Thanks BP!
