Does anyone on BP know of any meet ups in the Greater Toronto Area?

Thats  monthly income?

Colin I would read 'Set for Life' if you haven't already done so. I too am looking to make my first purchase but have to look elsewhere as the market in the Toronto area is very expensive.

As an investor purchasing an investment and not a primary residence do you need 20% down? (@Aditya Soma) Or are there other ways to lower this percentage?

Thank you Aditya and Matt for the posts. I will look into these areas in South west Ontario. Are there other strategies that investors are using in the GTA&H area ? (student rentals, fix and flip, etc)

Southwestern Ontario as in London and Sarnia areas? I am very interested in the house hacking option but even this option in the Greater Toronto Area is hard to do in this market, especially starting out. Would you suggest that I continue renting and save for an investment property somewhere outside the GTA within the path of progress?

I am a recent Engineering Graduate (2016) and currently working a full time job for the City of Toronto. I am really interested in investing in real estate, but here in Ontario, Canada the market is extremely HOT and I am not sure if this is the ideal place to invest, or should I be looking elsewhere? I have been busy paying off my student loan (hopefully by the end of this year it will be paid off) and saving for my first purchase. The way the house prices here have skyrocketed make it seem like this is not a great place to invest, especially starting out. Where does one start?
