My girlfrIend and I currently rent a 1/1 apartment In San Diego, CA for $1475 ($735 ish each) and I am saving up for my first deal. Considering the high prices in San Diego, should I buy a rental property first and keep paying rent? Or should I buy a property that I can live in first and pay towards something that I’ll eventually own?
@Justin Windham I have a 401k through my federal job. Are you talking about taking a loan against the money I’ve put into it?
@Joe Tomko what’s the risk involved with the delinquent mortgage notes?
Hey BP Community! I just finished reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, and I’m more motivated than an ever to make my first purchase. I’m looking for my next book now! So this month I’ll be debt free, and I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to save money for my first purchase. I’m planning to save about 2,000 a month for one year. Now my question is, is there some sort of way that I can save money, and that money can somehow grow? If there’s a book that’ll assist with this, please mention it! Thank you!

I figured I’d introduce myself to the community since I plan on getting serious about investing in rental properties. I’m currently a Federal Law Enforcement Officer in San Diego. I work a ridiculous amount of overtime, and I want to put that money to work. I’m currently starting to save up money to buy my first property, however I plan on looking into Florida for this first purchase. I grew up in Miami for most of my life, and lived there for about two years in the Naples, FL/Fort Myers, FL area. I look forward to using the knowledge and skills that I can acquire from this website/community to make my first purchase in FL!
