My assumption is that the tenant wants to know whether they can negotiate or ask for exceptions with you on various terms. You’ll be able to give them what they want as a private landlord.

If you were a professional management company with a set of rules and policies, it’s less likely a tenant will be granted an exception.

It also gives them a sense of how you might behave when it comes time for late fees and evictions if they don’t hold up their end of the lease.

@Charlie Cameron Nope, I’m not in the military anymore. I got out in 2012, but the experience of being a landlord back then was a powerful lesson in what’s possible through real estate!

My end goal is to organize the meetup and develop that network - but I was hoping to learn through this post what sort of interest there might be for it.

Hello Bigger Pockets! Long time lurker, first time poster here! I first caught the real estate bug when I became an accidental landlord due to military orders in 2011.

I’m interested in meeting up with investors in the Attleboro, MA area.

On the events page there don’t seem to be any upcoming investor meetups. It would be great if we could develop a network of folks in the business that we can share strategies and bounce ideas off of.

Who’s got some stories to tell?
