That's what I was thinking, @Sam Balland @Brad A.....looking at the bigger picture where there is lots of property bought and sold over time, rather than just residential customers where it could be decades before they move again.

Hi everyone,

Ok, here is today's question: I have seen a lot of posts on BP about "investor-friendly" real estate agents. Some people say that agents don't understand investing. Others say that agents won't waste their time working with investors. Still others say they have a great agent that they work with all the time. BP has an ebook about how to be an investor-friendly real estate agent.

So, what's the scoop? I live in Michigan, and am about 40 minutes away from Detroit. I will be able to practice all over the area, and there is a lot going on. Is this a viable avenue as a new agent? Does it/can it work?

@Michael Jobe  You mentioned how putting some money into marketing made things pick up. Do you mind if I ask what you did specifically? There are so many options.

@Crystal Aasir I am just starting to look into that as well. The marketing aspect is so huge. I posted on the social media forum to see if I could get some advice on social media strategies for newbies. It seems like you could spend so much time trying to find content for example that it would be easy to lose focus on prospecting.

Hi everyone,

So, I am almost a real estate agent. Just have to take the exam. In the meantime, what steps should I be taking or investigating regarding a social media presence?

I have personal Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, (and now on Bigger Pockets). Do I start business-related accounts with those? Some probably are better than others...should I start a blog? Do I start looking at a website?

There is no doubt in my mind that social media is an important tool to have in my arsenal. I am just not sure of how best to proceed at this point. Thanks for your feedback!

Yes, @David Hunter, I have read/heard about that syndrome before....I  did a lot of research before I embarked on the course, and I feel I am under no illusions about the amount of work and perseverance it takes.

Just the fact that ONE person can/has done it, means that I can too. I used to come from a mindset of lack. "Not me," I would think. Now I say, "Why not me?"

Ok, agents....I am ready to take the exam in the state of Michigan. I would love to learn from others' experiences, so tell me, what are some mistakes that rookie agents make? It's a pretty vast and overwhelming world when you are just getting started. In addition to being new to the field itself, I am also new to my area and I am starting basically from scratch. Any advice? Tips and tricks?

As well, I would like to mention that my philosophy approaching this new career is one of honesty, doing the best job I can, and just plain old showing up to do what I need to do!! (You know how some people just never answer the phone....) Thank you in advance for any replies.
