Hey Guys new member just joined yesterday and want to hit the ground running...

Back story I created a corporation back in 2012 in Georgia and never did anything with it, still active but noncompliant at the moment.

Question: Should I move that entity to TX (where I currently reside) and change to LLC or should I start a new entity from scratch? How complicated and expensive is it to move versus creating a new entity and dissolving the old? Also I notice someone created a company with the same name (added "The" on the beginning) this year, I'm assuming that could cause some problems in the future, should I handle that as well. They are located in CA.

Any advice/help is appreciated. The company is also filed as an S corp with the IRS and I would have to change that as well to LLC.

Also open to recommendations on RE lawyers and CPAs to get this situated and start moving forward.

@Jon Klaus My wife is from Tulsa and I'm from Texarkana.  When I first became interested in RE that's where I said I would invest just from knowing the areas.  I've only been in Dallas about 8 months and honestly didn't think it was possible for a beginner to grow legs in a big market like this.  However I checked out NTREIA last night after reading a post and saw a few properties in the starter range if the cash flow is right. So I'm definitely open to the Dallas market too!

Thanks everyone for the welcome...

Hey Guys,

I am a complete newb to the real estate scene and I'm looking to get into rentals (with a couple flips after I establish my 1st 5 rentals).  I actually came across biggerpockets because I was approached to sign up for Renatus.  Although I've been interested in real estate for a while, the Rentus pitch got me excited again but I decided to try other avenues before caving in to the steep entry prices.  Currently I'm an IT Project Manager and I've decided that I'm not getting anywhere with hard work and the occasional promotion and I don't want to work in a cubicle for the rest of my life. I also don't want to always be financially dependent on someone else's decisions or a company's bottom line. I plan to focus my attention in Tulsa/OKC, OK and east Texas (Texarkana area) but would still like to network the Dallas area for the occasional awesome deal. Let me know if I'm missing anything important!
