Hello All I have a friend from NC ( he is an engineer) who reached out to me asking me if I had any connections/ referrals for a architectural firm that he could talk to with regards to building a small "Little Gym" project in the San Jose/ Evergreen cali area Im from Southern California so I clearly don't have much knowledge with regards to the SJ area ( but I am his only CA connection) If anyone has any suggestions/ referrals. Id greatly appreciate the contacts so that i could pass it along Thank you again Respectfully, Kaygo

@Account Closedthank you for taking the time to share your experience. I left a message to my CPA to see when he has time to meet with me so i can discuss different options/ strategies.

I see that you are from west LA area... are you planning to go to the meet up in Santa monica this coming saturday? I am doing my best to clear my schedule so that i can possibly stop by and meet other BP members.

If you are in fact planning to go i would like to meet and introduce myself to you in person and anyone else that reads this for that matter!

@Dennis Tierney Thank you for your advice. I have just recent heard about SDIRA and it is an intriguing idea. I will definitely look at more BP forums with regards to this topic.

@Luka Milicevicit is comforting to know that others like yourself are thinking of the same/ similar "strategy" as me. It makes me feel like I am somewhat on the right path as far as opening up my mindset to the possibilities of RE investing.

@Jeff Rabinowitz @Mark Nolan @Stan Hill

Thank you all for your advice and response to my question. I very much appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and experiences with me.

I will definitely be meeting with my financial adviser to see what he suggests.

@Mark Nolan you stated " whether you invest retirement funds vs personal funds inflation is always a risk" I do understand that however, I was more curious to your ( the BP communities thoughts) on whether i should continue to invest in my IRA ( maxing it out every year) or stop that and save up my money to keep it liquid while looking for possible investment opportunities. ( the amount i would get from my IRA in interest would be void with the rate inflation is going correct? so it wouldn't make sense to continue to contribute to my IRA)

Hello BP family,

I am new to the real estate investing world and to the BP community.

I, like many people am interested in the thought/ possibilities of real estate investing but don't much cash to invest with.

I have been fortunate enough to have started (with the guidance of my parents) an IRA account. However, recently I have heard "specialist/gurus" say that IRA/401ks etc aren't all they are advertised to be when inflation is taken into account.

My question is should I consider taking out my IRA ( and take the hit on penalties) in order to obtain liquid cash to start investing with? Or should I leave my IRA alone and just not contribute to the IRA funds ( I max it out every year) anymore and save up the future capital ( that I would have contributed to my IRA) for investments?

I am fully aware that this is a CPA/ Financial adviser question and that people will hesitate to give advice if it's not in their scope of practice but I figure I'd reach out and ask anyways.

thank  you for taking the time to read this post

Best Regards,

Kaygo

hey Jeff,

I'm new to the site and new to investing in general.

I am from Socal as well ( i see you're in Irvine) I wanted to know why you chose Indy as your out of state investing location. What kind of properties are you finding out there and what are the price ranges you are targeting.

Obviously for a new investor with no experience like myself the thought of starting my investing venture in Socal is overwhelming

Is there anyone on this forum that is actively investing in the surrounding areas?

Thank you for taking the time to read this post

I look forward to learning more about investing and the journey it will take me on
