Thank you for all of the suggestions! @Bob Green, the property would require rehab.

Hi BP community!

I'm an investor looking for a bank/lender for a single family home in Milwaukee. I used Wells Fargo for my last deal and did not have the best experience with them.  I still have the mortgage with them for my duplex, but I was wondering if anyone out there has used a local bank/lender that they had a positive experience with.

Thank you in advance!

very helpful-thank you all for your prompt responses!

Hi BP community! I'm a new investor looking to purchase single family homes to rent in the Milwaukee area (West Allis, Greenfield) and a few of the deals that seem promising have one drawback--no basement. I live in Southern California where basements are rare-- if not, non-existent. Anyone from the area have any insight into whether this will make the property much less attractive to renters or less desirable to sell in the future? These are great priced homes but if this really can affect either of those two things then I'm hesitant to move forward. Would love any feedback you have! Best, Katie

Hi there,

I'm looking at properties in the Milwaukee area (West Allis, Greenfield) and there are a few properties without basements. I've been told that can make the property much less desirable to rent and someday re-sell. I live in Southern California, where basements are rare if not non-existent. Any thoughts on how much of a difference it makes? Thank you!

Thanks @Joshua Malik. That is really great advice. I am looking for cash flow and a long-term hold so I have thought about duplexes before, but it just seemed like a more daunting task for first time investor. I just spoke to my realtor and he agreed that that is probably a much better strategy. I'm going to start looking into it further. Super helpful, thank you!

Hi everyone,

I'm new in the real estate game, and would love some advice from Milwaukee locals (I am based in California). I have family in Milwaukee and have decided to start building my portfolio there since it is a lot more affordable than my local real estate market. I'm looking to invest in rental properties (3 br, single family) with the intent to buy and hold. I'm hoping to purchase 3 properties this year and 5 next year. I've already put offers in on 3 properties in the past month, but wasn't able to get an offer accepted--for a rental property, the numbers just didn't add up when the buyers countered. Any other investors out there that have any advice as to what neighborhoods I should be looking at? I'm currently looking in Bay View, St. Francis and West Allis primarily. Would love any advice that you may have.

Thanks in advance!

Katie
