Has anyone ever used Fundrise? If so, is it good or bad? Also, if you use something similar that you’re really liking and it’s beneficial, can you please tell me what it is? Thank you.

I’m ready to finally jump in and buy my first investment. My only problem is that I’m not sure how to go about finding my first deal. I’ve asked many wholesalers and other investors but I feel like it’s first come first serve and I’m not sure how to just find properties first. I’ve driven around but everything I find and then research isn’t the best deal to buy or the owners wouldn’t settle. Help!

@Braden Smith

Thank you so much for your advice and help! I’m actually on the Northshore so I plan on investing here as much as possible. Also, I really have been utilizing all the materials this site has to offer but there’s so much I’m not sure when I’ll get through it all! Maybe we can connect and help each other out! My brokerage is out of NOLA.

@Tim Herman

Thank you for the advice but I have a family and a house so I cannot do that. It would of been easier years ago when I was younger and not married but thanks for the advice!

@Frank Wong

Thank you! I wanted to start with Airbnb’s but there’s really not a huge market for them here except for in New Orleans but they changed all the rules and regulations recently so it’s impossible to do it there.

Hey all,

I know starting out is different to everyone but in everyone’s experienced opinion, where is a good place to start? More specifically, what’s easiest out of everything to begin with with the least amount of risk? Rentals? Airbnb’s? Commercial? Flips?

@Jaron Walling

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I just put it out there that id be willing to help in order to learn but I already have 3 jobs and will have to figure out how to squeeze that in. One of the reasons I want to get into investing, so I don’t have to work like this my whole entire life! Lol

@Mike Lee

True, the only people I would ask though, are like only 2 years into investing so aren’t at the level of knowledge I would like. They are still growing their business.

How does one go about finding a great mentor? I’ve been going to networking and investor events and talk to people but I feel like no one ever really takes me seriously. I’ve been learning all I can and I’ve learned that a mentor is a great tool to have getting into this! Any suggestions on how to meet more willing people or find someone who’s willing to be a mentor?
