Nice topic, and great insights from BP members :). I was in the same boat from past few years as per my research and checking all the crazy prices here - around bayarea is more on appreciation than rental income and i know few folks from my work place doubled their assets as they bought duplex in mountain view etc. 

If we need Rental Income then its out of California as per the discussions here.  I just signed a contract and fingers crossed for the first time real experience out of state. I'm a newbie so trying to learn and grow and BP is great  resource to materialize the passive income dream.   if you are around lets meet and chat  i'm from milpitas
