If you're concerned about local regulations, go directly to the permitting agency to get your questions answered. You need to talk to the folks who are either going to grant or deny your permit (if one is required.) Anyone else's interpretation of the regulations is not good enough to base a buying decision on. Go straight to the source AND request the source documents themselves so you can see it in writing. You'd be surprised (or not) how often people give bad advice or put their own interpretation on the regulations. Don't be afraid of the regulations. Embrace the opportunity to understand them and operate within them or to pivot to a market that is more suitable to what you want to do. Forewarned is forearmed!

Thank you @Bonnie Low, I think you're right! I do need to do a little more research before we make our decision. Thank you so much for your input!

@Frank Avallone II Thank you for your input!. I have talked to some different realtors, but I would like to find one with more experience in MTRs or STRs. What is the best way to find an attorney for these kind of questions?

Again, thank you for your input!

Hello,

I recently talked to a business mentor (a free service through SCORE) to discuss Medium-Term Rentals in my hometown of Gainesville. This mentor mentioned he has a few STR; however, he flat out recommended not to do a Midterm rental because of the regulations regarding tenants staying more than 28-30 days. Can anyone share their input on this topic? We would really appreciate it!

Please let me know if you need more details about what we are looking to do! Thank you in advance.

@Jason Hirko Hi Jason! I really like what you do about sending a "nice to meet you" email! If don't mind me asking, what do else do you say in your email besides "nice to meet you"? Do you mention anything about doing business in the future? Thanks in advanced for your time!
