Hello, I'm new to this. My tenant moved out and disconnected the water. (This tenant lived there when I bought the home) The property was vacant in November until now. I am finally coming to and trying to find another tenant. I call to connect the water and they tell me that I owe $550 for water bills the months of November and December...months that nobody was there. They said they found who the owner was and started billing me. I pick up the mail at the empty place about once a week and there was never anything addressed to me at this house. I did not ever authorize them to put a water bill in my name. They claim there was a leak...but no one was using water in the house and there are no visible leaks outside. I am not sure what to do. They won't let me turn on water and they may not let my new tenant turn on water either. HELP! I never had an account with them, never even lived in that town, and they're on the phone trying to trick me to give them my social security number and mailing address. I need quick action so that a new tenant can turn on the water.
