Post: How to Provide Value as a Newbie?

Hi all, I've had my BP account for a few days and I've been really excited to talk to people and start growing my network, but as I'm conversing I'm unsure of how to provide value.

It feels as if I'm just taking without giving, and I want to build symbiotic and win-win relationships early on. For background about me, I'm 20 years old and I'm a current junior studying Computer Science with specialization in AI; I've had a few internships and experience in coding AI algorithms.

It seems like the value which I can provide is related to my coding abilities, and the time I have since I lack too many responsibilities as a youngster. I'm unsure how to smoothly mention these things though and leverage these advantages.

Any advice?

@Cindy Bacigalupo I love LA and Orange County!!! Exploring some of the options would be great but I probably won't be able to buy for a while. I'll reach out to you on BP.

@Daniela Andreevska Wow, you've really sold me on Raleigh! I'll do more research on my own and reach out to you on BP if I have more questions. Thank you again for being so helpful :)

@Emmanuel Ruggiero I appreciate your advice, and it's definitely a reality that I'll probably need to get creative with financing my first investment due to my age. Hopefully that's a good problem to have? I don't have any family in Dallas anymore, but living with family for a few years in the Bay is one of my backup options.

Feel free out to me on BP if you want to discuss the AI/ML project more ;) I might not have the bandwidth myself, but I have friends who might be interested.

@Jordan Moorhead Thanks for your reply! I've actually seen quite a few of your replies on other Austin threads, so I'm really excited you replied to mine :) This might be kind of a silly question, but how would I go about finding rehab projects in Austin when it seems like many new homes are being built due to the growth of the city?

@Sandra Morrison I'm considering Nashville since it seems VERY similar to Austin, but I wasn't aware there was so much Space and Government Tech going on near the area as well! Thank you for your reply :)

@Andrew Powers Detroit REALLY intrigued me after I listened to the podcast episode where a lady was discussing their low prices. How did you end up in Detroit? Are you also a Software Engineer?

@Daniel Kong Hawaii seems awesome but I don't think there are too many tech jobs at the big firms in that area. Maybe when I have more capital... Indianapolis seems interesting, I used to watch the Colts games back when Andrew Luck was QB because I was a huge Stanford fan. I'll definitely look into it more.

@Daniela Andreevska Thank you so much for the advice! Funnily enough, my consultant friend from UNC sent me a screenshot of the PwC Emerging Trends, but I wasn't aware that it was so highly respected. Would it be wise to consider out of state investment in any of the markets you mentioned (especially since I lack experience)? Is the CoC return in Raleigh-Durham positive, or is it more of an appreciation market like Austin?

Thank you so much @Bruce Lynn! I'll definitely do some more digging into Dallas opportunities; I'd love to connect with you to chat more about Dallas in the future.
