Post: Anyone try sober living home?

Hi all - I’m kicking around the idea of buying a big single family home and offering housing for sober living. People in recovery need a place to stay free of drugs and alcohol. From what I understand, it’s common to place 2 beds in each room and charge weekly/monthly. Returns are higher but the downside is that it’s more hands on.

While my primary goal is to make money, I have a soft spot for those with addiction. I see this as a chance to do some good and make better money than if I were to go the traditional route.

Anyone tried their hand at a sober living house? I’m finding it difficult to find examples of people doing this.

Thanks in advance BP!

-Justin

@Matt M. Ha, seems to be the consensus.

@Steve Babiak @Tom Fidrych

Both good points - could cause potential issues with tenants and make my units less desirable. I guess I don’t think of it as a big deal. I personally wouldn’t care as a renter but I’ll have to think, what would the majority of people think?

Hi all,

Anyone try doing this?  I have a rental property in a really condensed neighborhood and think need would be through the roof.  I have a nice yard and am considering buying decent sized sheds and placing them in the yard for storage and renting them out.  Not sure if the town would give me a hard time about it and I don't know who to speak to about doing this.

Quick math of ROI has me really thinking about this.

Any insight on this? How to go about it, who to speak to about getting approval, etc...

Thanks.

-Justin

Hey all,

My investment property has a detached garage and it illicit some really great interest in renting it.  Has me thinking, is it possible to purchase only a garage from a homeowner with the purpose of renting it out?  I'd think paying all cash for one may be enough to get someone to sell it to me.

Anyone know if this is possible?  I have one agent telling me yes and another telling me no.

Thanks!

-Justin

@Jonathan Greene Do you have a landing page for sign up/details?  The one Michael provided is tough to navigate and figure out where to go.
