Thanks so much for the replies and guidance. I've signed up with my local REIA...canceled tonight (due to the weather)....but I'll be attending next week. Andrew...thanks for the Wake Tech tip...didn't know they had such a class but I'll be looking to enroll! Best wishes and much success to all!

Hello everyone...is it beneficial to seek out a mentor in my local market (Raleigh, NC)? I've read a great deal of material, done a ton of research, but I'm a hands on kinda guy...so for me I think its the next logical step. I know peoples time and effort are valuable so I don't know if its even feasible. Thanks so much for reading and any suggestions!

Shanequa..thanks so much for the reply. I'm certain I'll be addicted! I suppose my version of "Candy Crush" as my wife would call it...I did 6 years at Bragg, 3 years at Campbell....I've worked fulltime for the NCARNG since 1997. Thanks for your service!

Thanks Bryan...the more I read/learn...the more excited I get. I know I have a long way to go, but grateful that I now have a place to grow and reach my goals. Best wishes!

John/Jacob...thanks so much for the replies, kind words, and encouragement.

Jacob...I'd like to invest in single family homes. Rehab and flip, or rental properties. I signed up for the TREIA "newbie" meeting on Wednesday night. It was my hope to get more of an idea about the current trends, investing in this area, and building relationships with professionals/experienced investors. Again...your input is truly appreciated.

Good evening everyone. My name is Rick and I reside in the Raleigh/Garner, NC area. Is there anything before newbie? If so...thats me! I'm currently in the military (27 years) and hope to retire in the next 36 months. I love what I do and if mind/body were willing would gladly do so for another 27 years. I have a lovely, supportive wife and daughter. I've done so much reading, research, google searches, listening to Guru's that my head is spinning, hence why I came to BP. I finally came to the realization that there are REAL people...good people...doing the exact things I want to do all around me. I've always believed that if you either emulate those who are successful or surround yourself with successful people good things will happen. It is my sincere hope here on BP to find people like yourselves who are successsful and learn/grow from your knowledge, experiences, and guidance. My goal is to seek financial independence and improve the quality of life for my family and those I love through Real Estate. I'm sorry this is so long...I've keep a lot of this in my head. I look forward to hearing from all of you. Your time, thoughts, and opinions are most welcome and appreciated.
