Thanks for the replies.  I truly appreciate the input very much.

It is my understanding that one DUI you can get expunged, but not more than that, which I completely understand.  One DUI can be a mistake, whereas multiple DUI's speak to a pattern of behavior is the thinking on that I believe.

I guess I'm hoping to find out if anyone involved in Indiana real estate knows if it is worth the time and money to take the classes and even apply, or if I would be setting myself up for disappointment.  Some states seem to be pretty cut-and-dry regarding this issue, but I can't seem to find anything much about Indiana.  I honestly feel pretty ridiculous even asking.  It's embarrassing to share how badly I screwed up in the past.  However, I also know from my AA meetings that there are a lot of recovering alcoholics in the world who have managed to put their pasts behind them and are now doing well and are successful.  I'm just hoping there might be someone on this website who can speak to this specifically as regards getting a real estate brokers license in Indiana.

Thanks again.

Hello,

I am an alcoholic, sober now for over five years, but have a history of five DUIs in another state, none in Indiana.  They are all misdemeanors because they were spaced apart so I have no felony convictions, and thankfully no incidents that resulted in any injury to anyone.  I am very ashamed of my past behavior and have worked hard to put all of that behind me.  I have no other criminal history.  It has always been a dream of mine to work in real estate and now that my kids have graduated college, I am hoping to pursue this goal but feel like with my DUI history, I will never be able to qualify for a license anywhere, under any circumstances.  I am hoping to get some feedback here without judgment as no one can make me feel any worse about my past mistakes than I already do.  Thanks.
