Hey Jon,

I'm not familiar with anyone in particular, but if you go to your dashboard and scroll down you'll find a button to search for members. You can search for people near you, and I've heard several success stories from people who have connected in this way.

Good luck in your search and real estate journey.

Josh

The jobs I've seen (and all of them if my understanding is correct) are strictly commission. It's a plus or minus depending how you look at it. If you're really good and sell expensive properties you can make good money, but you're in the clock basically 24/7 at that level.

I'm sure someone else who has had the job can give you more detail, but that's my ushers random based on my research and the one interview I've had.

Post: How to Approach Private Money Lenders

Hey everyone,

New to Bigger Pockets and real estate investing here. I don't have much money right now for a down-payment but am trying to think in terms of "How can I?" instead of "I can't".

My question is basically this: How do I approach someone and ask for money? A good friend of mine has a mentor/ future father-in-law who's very well off and is apparently very interested in real estate. The father-in-law loves talking business and investments with my friend and has told him that "real estate is the way to go". However, he's retired and isn't pursuing investments as aggressively these days.

My thought is I that if he helped with the down-payment or financing, I could provide the energy, knowledge, and drive to invest in a BRRR multifamily home. He could get better returns than the stock market, etc and it would be a win-win. Would it be appropriate for me to approach him and propose this? How would I go about doing so? I want to make sure this is mutually beneficial and that I don't come across as shady.

Thanks everyone!

Josh

@Caleb Rigby Would you mind telling us a bit about how you nailed down the private money? That's something that I think would be really helpful for a lot of us new investors. I've read the book on investing with no or low money down, but am always interested to hear about how others get that private money. Thanks a lot and both of your flips look great!

Hi @Michael Sato and @Mark Nolan, thanks for the welcome! I actually did find a networking event at meetup.com for BiggerPockets members in my area so I'm looking forward to that. I'll keep that members page in mind for the future as well.

Thanks for recommend in the podcasts too. That is probably the one area of bugger pockets that I've under utilized, but will start listening.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Josh, I just recently moved to Long Island, but plan to get a job in NYC in the next couple months. I know that's pretty ambitious, but my current trade is design and that's where all the jobs are right now. My plan is to save until I can get an FHA loan to finance my first BRRRR and build from there.

If anyone is in the Eastern boroughs and would like to meet up I'd love to make some connections in the area. I look forward to interacting with everyone on BiggerPockets and finding my way to an independent financial future!
