Thanks Ali...when deciding where to live, "proximity to The Kettle" probably weighted heavier than it should have.

I am currently renting a pair of condos in the Chicagoland area... one in River West and one in Oak Park - (former residence).  I am currently looking for another condo on the near west side because of my (not yet conquered) fear of the long distance management of SFHs.  My condos both have excellent condo boards and management companies so I know my places are being well maintained while I am away.

Thats great, Kevin.  The area that intrigues me the most is from 26th to 34th between Harlem and Ridgeland.  There are a number of the traditional Chicago bungalows in the area that dont appear to need extensive rehab.  I also like the proximity to MacNeil Hospital and the Metra.

I look forward to hearing how it goes!

I was wondering whether anyone has any experience investing (either holding or flipping) in Berwyn, IL?  Although I am not as familiar with the area as I used to be, I DO know that it is convenient to downtown Chicago (290, Blue Line, Pink Line, Metra) and rent ratios look pretty good.

Thank you both for the welcome.  Mehran, podcast #73 is actually where I started at BP.  The Manhattan Beach area has no attractive cash flow properties so I was researching out of state alternatives (Midwest specifically).

Hello all,

Yesterday, during my (nearly) daily quest for a free online RE education, I stumbled upon the BP podcast and website  I was so impressed by the community that I immediately joined.  With two income producing rental condos in Chicago I am still a small time investor, but my goal is to double my portfolio cash flow in the next two years.  As a Finance Consultant living in Manhattan Beach, CA, most of my time is spent on the road, but my roots are in Chicago.

I am excited to learn from you all and hope that BP can help me achieve my short term and long term financial goals.
