A couple years ago I finally joined the ranks of being a home owner . We found a nice house that was in very much need of being updated . The owners of the house passed away and was left to their daughter . THe house sat for about 5 years only making things worse . Thats not a big deal because we get to slowly fix the house to our liken .
There is a few problems with house that were never disclosed in which probably should of been but they could get away with not since it was there parents house and just claimed not knowing / ignorance .
1. Basement leaks every time it rains , they claimed to know nothing because they didnt live there . But the ripped up carpet was a clue , also the mold that they had to clean up for inspection .
2. Claiming brand new electric service , after moving in found its partially true but some of the house was still connected to old screw type fuse box WTF ?
3. AC unit , Air works fine no problems . could not test do to time of year only after warming up after purchas to find out it was broken . everything turned on but the outdoor unit need parts .
4. Our Biggest concern and wife almost refused to stay at house . The son of old owners and brother of who sold us house died in house . He committed suicide in the basement , apparently blew his head off with a gun . That one is pretty hard to deny not knowing and claiming that they didnt know they should tell someone .
What can be done about this ? I tried talking to my agent but I odnt think he cares because it would take time ? or does it effect his commision ? Clearly this devalues home and now that I know about it , I have to disclose it ? How is that right im stuck losing value one house?
My house is one of two to be a 4 bedroom and larger size on out block its actually a prety hard to find in my area to find for sale .
