I’ve been investing in the Dayton, OH area and live in Gainesville, VA. I’d like to start going to the local real estate networking events in my area. Does anyone know of any local events around Gainesville, VA?

@Carl Fischer, thank you so much for the information about the mid Atlantic summit! I didn’t know this existed. Also, thanks for offering to sell me a ticket! I’ve got to ask the boss (wife) if she’ll let me go.

Thanks for the info, @Carl Fischer! I have considered private lending. Just need to find the right people. I’m going to make sure I attend these future meet ups. @Account Closed, it’s nice to meet you and to know there are investors all around.

@Account Closed, thank you for your advice! I will stay away from my 401k and try another route. Much appreciated!

Thank you all for your comments! I really appreciate it!

@Chris Svendsen, I would really like to start attending those meet ups. Can you let me know when the next one is happening?

@Jeremy Taggart, I’d really like to use the 401k loan, but my financial advisor told me that I would lose $450,000 when I retire by just taking that $50,000 out. He even added the interest and money coming back in with the 5 year plan.

I found a potential 4 unit property in Akron and may be able to get seller financing. The only problem is trying to finance the money needed for repairs.

Hello, my name is Josh and I'm a newbie trying to get into real estate. I live in Gainesville, VA, but am looking to invest in multifamily homes and rent them out in the Midwest, Pittsburgh, PA, and upstate NY because of how expensive it is in northern Virginia. I know this is a huge area, but I'm not really sure where to land yet. I've been looking primarily in Akron, OH and Pittsburgh, PA, but am open to any suggestions. I've been looking for the past year and have been reading Brandon Turner's books, which has gotten me even more excited about real estate! I just need to get this first one out of the way to get started, but it's been difficult because I own my dream house already and am having a difficult time getting a loan due to my massive mortgage. I'm also reluctant to take money out of my 401k because of the advice of my financial adviser telling me not to. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do? Preferably someone who was in the same predicament when they got started. Thanks!
