@Carl Fischer that is my main argument, because we are just starting out we don't have anything to lose, but she is concerned that since we are going to be living there if something goes wrong we could get sued if we can't fix it in time. I don't know I am very green when it comes to any of this stuff

We have not spoken to anyone yet. When it gets closer to us being able to qualify for any kind of mortgage we will probably get with an attorney to understand if an LLC is a good idea right now. She still needs to finish school 11 semester left and i need to finish my academy before we will be able to officially do more than plan for this. Mainly i'm on here to figure out my first step when that time comes.

Evening BP!

My fiance and I are looking to get into multifamily homes. we are going to house hack the first few since we are just starting in our careers. Our biggest discussion we have is before we buy our first deal should we create an LLC. If we are going to be house hacking is it a good idea to get an LLC or should we get a little more established before needing to get one? any advice is greatly appreciated thanks!

I am looking at a dueplex in Cary NC to house hack with. There are currently long term tenants paying under market value rent. How would I go about getting one tenant out and raise the rent for the other? One tenant is 10+ years and the other is 3+ years.

Thanks for the advice Michael Lee  I am definitely going to be spending a lot of time examining a property before I jump in to it. Michael Facchini I am planning on moving to North Carolina end of this year, with that I plan to move into a Dueplex or Triplex and do some house hacking to start off. After a year or two of some improving I want to refinance and hopefully buy my second property. I am still trying to figure out refinancing. I get the general idea and how I can use the reworked loan to purchase another home while extending the loan term length.

Hello my name is Josh. I have been following the concept of real estate investing for a year or two now. I recently decided to step it up and start actually running numbers, or at least trying to. I bought Brandon Turner's book on rental property investing (great book) and made an account on bigger pockets. Long story short I am just introducing my self and look forward to all the advice I can get and read from here!
