Good morning BP!

My wife and I are currently under contract for a 3-flat in the Jefferson Park/Portage Park area. I'm trying to get quotes for Home Owner's Insurance policies - anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

I haven't looked into Iriving Park or Jefferson Park yet. Our target areas thus far are Pilsen, Logan Square, Avondale, and Lincoln Square. We've met with one Broker Associate, but weren't too thrilled with the experience. I sent you a PM Alex on connecting. I'd love to be able to continue this conversation in person. My fiance and I are relatively new to the RE business so more people we can meet with the better!

Greetings BP!

Has anyone had any experience in investing in the Logan Square or Avondale areas in Chicago? My fiance and I are looking for a duplex or 3-level home to live in and rent out units. From the initial research we've done, we're not seeing too many multi-unit homes in the area near the Blue Line. Wanted to reach out to see if anyone has an experience or advice with this.

Thanks!

@Jeff Burdick we're setting our budget at $500k. What areas have you purchased properties at in the Chicagoland area? What's been your favorite area to work in?

@Elbert D. thanks for the quick response! From the preliminary research that my fiance and I have conducted, it has led us to believe Forest Park is also a good option since of the lower taxes. We're meeting with a realtor for a more professional opinion; my fiance and I are relatively new to real estate and doing research before we move forward with any decisions. As far as budget, we're looking <$500K, borrowed through an FHA loan. We won't be using a property manager at first, as we'll live in one unit and use other unit rents as payments for the loan. We're willing to do some rehab, but probably not a gut rehab. What are your thoughts on northern suburbs (Roscoe Village, Ravenswood, etc)?

I'm looking in various neighborhoods in Chicago to invest in a multi-family unit building. This will be my first real estate investment. Does any one have suggestions on upcoming neighborhoods? My fiance and I are initially thinking of Ravenswood and/or Oak Park. Thanks BP!

Hello BP world! My fiance and I have recently decided to invest in the RE industry. Before we move forward at all, we're taking the time to do research and educate ourselves. Has anyone in the Chicagoland area taken any classes at DePaul University in the Real Estate Department? I am a part-time MBA student considering a Real Estate Evaluation and Analysis concentration and was looking for some pointers/advice. I've great things about the curriculum, but thought I would reach out for more.
